Whatcom Falls Neighborhood
Trees along Lakeway Drive

Whatcom Falls

The Whatcom Falls Neighborhood is named for the popular Whatcom Falls Park which occupies the northeast section of the neighborhood. Whatcom Falls Park features a beautiful forested area along the Whatcom Creek Gorge with many cascading falls and hiking trails. Bayview Cemetery, the city's only memorial park, is located to the west of Whatcom Falls Park and together they occupy most of the neighborhood's area north of Lakeway Drive.

To the south of Lakeway Drive, nearly all of the neighborhood is residential. The neighborhood has a suburban character and consists mostly of newer, single family homes on large lots. The neighborhood has one of the lowest population densities in the city of Bellingham and the highest percentage of owner occupied homes. The hillsides in the southern portion of the neighborhood remain undeveloped and provide a beautiful wooded backdrop for the neighborhood.
Shopping

There is one small strip mall in the neighborhood located across the street from Whatcom Falls Park. It includes a gas station, convenience store and Lafeen's Donut shop.

Lakeway Center is located about one mile away. Lakeway Center has a Cost Cutter supermarket, liquor store, several restaurants and a bank. Fred Meyer Shopping Center, located on the other side of Lincoln Street, has groceries, a pharmacy, clothing and more.
